City Walking Tour:
Walking tour visiting the main cultural sights around Arequipa´s historical centre, whilst orientating visitors to the modern city highlights and giving useful recommendations to enjoy your stay. The route passes by the Cathedral, Santa Catalina Monastery (outside), cloisters of San Agustin, and San Camilo market.
Free time to enjoy lunch in one of the many city restaurants. Traditional restaurants, known as picanterias, highly recommended (lunch not included). Guide will share recommendations.
Ruta del Sillar Tour:
Travel out to the city CANTERAS (quarries), origin of the white volcanic rock (Sillar), mined in colonial times to construct the city architecture that today gives Arequipa its famous name as the 'White City'.
Zamacola viewpoint:
One of the best panoramic city views where we can see all 3 volcanoes which encircle the city - MISTI, CHACHANI and PICHU PICHU.
Cantera Añashuayco:
Enter the Añashuayco quarry where we will learn the art of ancient stonemasonry techniques used to extract and shape the volcanic sillar rock. Witness the inspiring examples of the workmanship chiseled into the quarry cliffs, especially the almost life-size replica of the façade of the famous church Iglesia de la compañia.
Cantera Vírgen de Culebrillas:
30 minute walk through this mysterious canyon characterized by pink rock and 20m high walls. Believed to be an ancient place of worship, our trek ends at the sacred place where petroglyphs of varios forms can be seen etched into the rock, which date back over a thousand years to the Wari culture.
Night in Arequipa.
For people who want to experience an adventure sport, we recommend that they book, through our booking system (HOP LOGIN), the RAFTING tour; with a duration of 3 hours. The time we recommend is 8:00 am so that you can have time to join the group on the afternoon tour to the Ruta del Sillar.
Hostel and hotel pick up. Early departure in private transport to the Colca Canyon valley. 4 hour journey time. (Sleep on the way. The early departure ensures arrival to the canyon to coincide with the best time to see the Andean Condors in flight)
Arrive to the traditional village of Achoma for breakfast (INCLUDED)
We will arrive to the Condor’s Cross where we will appreciate the impressive views of the second deepest canyon in the world and see the majestic Andean Condor bird that may be spotted flying just over your head (fingers crossed!).
Return to Chivay. On the way back, we will stop at some of the most outstanding viewpoints in the area, including the Mysterious Lagoons of Antahuilque.
We will stop for about an hour to visit the natural, thermal springs in the small village of Yanque (optional) where you can enjoy the relaxing, medicinal waters.
Arrive to Chivay for lunch (NOT INCLUDED)
Bus back to Arequipa city. On the way back, we will stop at Patapampa, an incredible viewpoint where you will see the Ampato, Sabancaya and Hualca Hualca volcanoes side by side. We will also stop at the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca where you will appreciate the Andean camelids like vicuñas, llamas, and alpacas.
Hostel and hotel drop off. Night in Arequipa.
Pick up from your hotel. Departure from Arequipa back to Cusco.
Breakfast stop. We’ll have a quick stop for around 20 minutes in a small minimarket where you can buy local breakfast, some snacks, and water if you needed.
Lagunillas photo stop. This stunning lake includes four small islands and sits at 4.174 m above sea level. With a backdrop of the Andes mountains, blue skies and clouds overhead, the view is absolutely breathtaking.
Lunch stop in the rural village of Marangani. Surrounded by picturesque landscape we will stop here for the chance to try a typical Andean buffet lunch (OPTIONAL EXTRA).
Arrival to Cusco. Hotel/hostel drop off.
